Character Design & Storytelling

In the style of Oskar Schlemmer’s “Triadic Ballet”, we will design our own characters based on a limited number of geometric forms and then allow them to encounter one another in randomly chosen scenes. In small teams, we will develop short stories about our figures and present them in a miniature theatre. The workshop demonstrates how so many new ideas can arise from so few starting elements, and how quickly stories can develop using only random parameters.

Sebastian Lörscher studied visual communication at the Würzburg University of Applied Sciences and the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin. His graphic novels have received numerous awards (e.g. the Sondermann Prize and the Stiftung Buchkunst Award) and have been published in Germany and France.

Practical tip: No prior artistic experience is required. All necessary materials will be provided at the workshop.
