bauhaus_break

The Bauhaus-Archiv holds the world's largest collection of photographs on the history of the Bauhaus, but many of the pictures are hardly known. For the digital bauhaus_break, our colleagues at the Bauhaus-Archiv retrieve hidden jewels from our photo archives that are particulary intriguing to them. What is so magical about the spontaneous photo of a Schlemmer costume? What does a dreamy shot from a window reveal about the artist Marianne Brandt, who is otherwise known for her straightforward metalwork? How has the development of photography influenced the artistic work of the Bauhauslers in other areas?

We are publishing the videos on YouTube and Facebook every last Thursday of the month. For English subtitles, go to our videos on Facebook and turn on the captions option.
