Students at the Bauhaus were encouraged to explore the social and technical circumstances of their time and incorporate industrial techniques and materials. In today’s digital era, more and more artefacts are shaped by computer-based data and processes or are completely produced autonomously. In this workshop we explore this phenomenon with playful experiments by using a diverse assortment of mechanical and electronic components to build machines that generate images on their own. You’ll be amazed at what these picture machines can do!

Patrick Kochlik and Jens Wunderling are communication designers with expertise in the crossover between design and information technology. They co-founded the Berlin design studio Syntop for digital, interactive and participative media. Kochlik and Wunderling teach at universities in Germany and abroad.
