After his emigration to Great Britain and USA, Walter Gropius returned regularly to Germany from the 50s onwards, acting as an advisor, speaker or design architect. He developed the master plan the suburban area called Britz-Buckow-Rudow that later became Gropiusstadt, connecting housing with shops, schools and public transport on a large scale. The results remain controversial up to the present day. Visitors will learn what became of Walter Gropius' ideas after the realisation of his plan - where the project failed and where it might be considered a success.
