Marianne Brandt and Hin Bredendieck, Kandem table lamp, 1928

Through good collaboration with the Körting & Mathiesen company (Kandem), the 1928 Kandem Desk Lamp went down in the history of design. The design by Marianne Brandt and Hin Bredendieck continued to be produced for decades, even after the Bauhaus had been closed. It shows an intensive examination of the issues involved in lighting technology and functionality – clearly recognizable in the movable reflector with its mirroring interior, the bendable arm, the stable base and easy-to-use switch. In addition, there was now greater engagement at the Bauhaus with the production methods used in large companies.
